Just recently, I attended the annual African Dream Tourism Workshop at Pezula Nature Retreat in Knysna, where I had the opportunity to speak to all attendees about Vegan Hospitality. I used the platform to set the tone for my mission for 2026:
- Expanding our network with 25 additional Vegan Hospitality–certified or aligned properties across South Africa (we have seven certified so far, with several more already aligned through consultation and training);
- Positioning the Western Cape and South Africa as planet- and vegan-friendly destinations by highlighting the clear links between reducing our carbon footprint and increasing our appeal to both domestic and international travelers;
- Advancing a “GreenStay” certification programme with the Western Cape government – one that aligns with Vegan Hospitality Certification and guidelines, and signals the province’s leadership in sustainable hospitality.
Vegan hospitality isn’t about restriction — it’s about reinvention. It’s where sustainability meets spa cuisine, and where good business meets good karma.
Let’s make South Africa not just a scenic destination, but a sustainable one — because the future of hospitality is plant-powered, planet-friendly, guest-approved, and – as always – proudly South African.
